Traveling The World In This Economic Times

People normally travel to other countries to get health care or to obtain a diagnosis. However, that is simply not the case these days as the number of travelers has dropped dramatically. Well aside from economic reasons due to recession, the concerns of swine flu had prevented tourists from getting out of their homes. Travel industry has seen its worst and businesses and governments needs to do something to regain that traveling consumer confidence and revive the industry like it used to.

Nation’s governments need to do something to stimulate spending. People must feel the impulse to spend their cash for a better economy. Lowering interest rates is an excellent idea as a fitting stimulus. People will likely avail the chances and travel as they may never get the opportunity of lower rates again.

For example, there are incredible discounts to be gained in Alaskan cruises. 75% discounts are quite normal and that is quite an incentive. Senior citizens had also benefited on such discounts as most cruises have special offers for them to take advantage of. Thus, it’s the perfect time for retirees to travel the world nowadays. They just have to make certain that they have senior citizen travel insurance to go along with the stimulus opportunities.

Still, keep in mind that traveling entails a great deal of vigilance. AH1N1 (Swine Flu) and other epidemics are still prevalent and you should be aware of the hot spots and stay away from such destinations. It would be also a good idea to acquire swine flu travel insurance to be sure.

If you are considered to be on the sickly side, like most senior citizens are, always come prepared by getting your medications in place and handy. You will need an efficiently working immune system when traveling. Have some vitamins ready as popping some vitamin C’s could go a long way in your trips. To complete the one-two punch is to get protected with travel insurance but one should make careful decisions regarding the purchase. But make sure that you get adequate coverage. Travel insurance comparison will give you great deals in terms of price and cover. Meds and vitamins is protection against pathogens while insurance is your further protection against financial liabilities due to medical emergencies.

To stay away from allergies and other travel-related sickness is to simply use your common sense. Just avoid places with high health risks and stay away from situations that may trigger your allergies. If you are easy to catch a cold, avoid chilly and cold places. It would be best to stay at beaches and tropical destinations.

Having said all these, the time to travel is now. Low rates, special offers, and discounts are a dime a dozen. You should take advantage of them. Don’t let the tough economic times hinder you and your family’s right to travel and enjoy. If you are already retired, enjoy the remainder of your life exploring the world. If you have a young family, culture your relationships with a worthwhile family trip. If you are a free spirit, you can use the internet and earn money online while traveling around the world.

Travel Mistakes Easily Avoided

I really don’t like having to travel far on business and luckily for me my trips are few and far between. On a recent business trip to America I think I made almost every mistake in the book.

Things started to go wrong when I arrived at Gatwick airport in my car only to find that there were no more available airport parking spaces close to my terminal. I was forced to pay top price for a car parking space that was miles away from the airport terminal building.

This delayed my arrival, and I was already late. This didn’t go down well at the check in desk where they told me that I should have arrived an hour earlier. I was also told that I could have printed my boarding pass and checked in online before leaving home. Well you live and learn I suppose.

Starting early had meant leaving home without eating, so I immediately headed for one of the airport restaurants. I couldn’t believe what they were charging for a full English breakfast and if I wasn’t travelling on expenses I wouldn’t have been too happy at paying the extortionate airport prices.

I arrived in Atlanta and immediately headed for one of the car hire providers. There were a whole load of conferences taking place and attendees had taken all of the best models. I ended up with a big old Chevrolet pickup for the duration of my visit. If I’d booked in advance I’d have saved my employers some money and probably got the car that I wanted.

When I came back to Atlanta airport I had forgotten to take my keys out of my pocket and I was wearing a new belt witha big American eagle metal buckle. My ovsersights resulted in me going through the body scanner no less than three times before I passed the security check.

Then, when I boarded my flight, I reallised that I had somehow lost my PDA. Maybe it was stolen, but the chances are that I had simply left it in the airport bar where I’d enjoyed a beer before my flight. Unfortunately my travel insurance didn’t cover me for lost or stolen items like this.

I think it should be obvious that I am a bit rusty when it comes to air travel these days. I now think that I should stay at home here in the UK.
