Carry-On Airline Luggage Guidelines

Most of us definitely would agree that the most annoying thing that could happen to us in any airport is to be told that our carry-on luggage must be check in because it didn’t meet the regulations of the airline.

Sometimes, we are told that some of the stuff we have in our carry-on luggage are not allowed onboard the plane, either we have to get rid of them, or (again *sigh*), have our luggave checked in.

Before we lose our temper and get irked by these kinds of inconveniences, it is wise to check with our specific airline regarding their hand-carry luggage policy, including items that are allowed inside the plane.

Hand-carry Luggage: Some Tips and Trick
related article: Carry On Luggage Dimensions

There are some guidelines that we need to follow in order for our hand-carry luggage to be allowed aboard the plane, which might be different from one airline to another. Usually, the size of a hand-carry luggage is about 22x14x9 inches. Anything that exceed this measurement must be checked in.

It’s not surprising that some luggage stores may insist that the sizes of their carry-on bags are the exact dimensions that airlines have specified. While this may be true, it is still best for us to measure the bags on our own just to be sure that we are buying the right-sized carry-on bags instead of being told later on that they have been rejected for carrying on the plane.

The shape of our carry-on luggage is the other thing that we have to consider. Unfortunately, ven if we have the appropriate total size of the allowable carry-on luggage which is forty-five inches, if it’s shaped is too irregular, it may still need to be checked in the compartment of the plane.

Finally, we have to check with our airlines on the items that are allowed to be carried on the plane; and the items that we can still carry onboard without being added as part of our hand-carry luggage. These items include jackets, child seats, and umbrellas, among other things.

Packing Our Carry-On Luggage

So okay, we got the right airline carry-on luggage size down to a T; we have checked that it is just the right shape to fit into the compartment inside the plane; and we have also checked all the items that we are allowed to pack inside our hand-carry bag.

The next thing to think about is how to pack the bag in such a way that we will not exceed the maximum allowable weight of hand-carry bags as directed by the airline. Again, this may differ from airline to airline; and also whether we are flying domestic or international.

We have to remember that when we are packing, we can’t just stuff inside the bag whatever we want, haphazardly. Being organized with our packing will not only ensure that all items will still be in good condition once we land; it will likewise eliminate the possibility of it being checked in for exceeding the allowable weight.

Finally, we should take care not to put anything in the outer pockets of the bag as this will cause the bag to be bulky; hence, it might not easily slip through the checking counter for hand-carry bags.

What it Takes to be an Airport Cleaner

Airport Cleaner

When you next take a flight spare a few moments to look around the airport terminal. Are the floors strewn with litter and detritus? Not usually.

Most busy international airports employ a legion of cleaners whose job it is to keep the airport terminals clean and free from detritus. They perform their work while surrounded by busy people headed off on business trips and harassed families going away for their annual vacations. The packaging from the airport fast food restaurants is enough to fill the airport bins several times over each and every day.

Marie is one of the busy cleaners at Glasgow’s busy international airport. She has previously gained experience at various other Scottish airports, Aberdeen and Edinburgh, but prefers Glasgow as it is much busier.

A typical day for Marie and those in her team will start at 4 a.m. when she starts the early morning shift, getting the airport spruced up ready for that days travellers. She told us that the biggest daily problem she must deal with is unattended luggage. ‘Even though people know about terrorism they can still forget and leave their bags unattended. If I find a bag that is unattended I am required to report it to security straight away. Some poeple can get quite upset when their hand luggage is treated like a bomb.

Marie told us that she doesn’t meet many rude or obnoxious passengers but they do appear from time to time. She said: ‘Only last week I encountered a young woman who purposely dropped her rubbish on the floor in front of me’.

As well as the unattended bags that might be bombs and the occasional rude passenger Marie has to deal with all the odd things that people leave behind. She said: ‘By far the most common things I find these days are mobile phones, but laptops are also common. I’ve even found baby’s pushchairs, toys, medicines and I even once found a false leg.’

A key skill needed by anyone working as an airport cleaner is the ability to deal with all nationalities and people from all walks of life. ‘The ability to stay calm and help a passenger who is about to miss their flight remain calm is definitely a bonus’ said Marie.

Remember: You will get the best deal on Glasgow airport parking, Aberdeen airport parking or Edinburgh airport parking by booking in advance to get up to 60% off the normal cost.

frequent travelers usually know when and when not to call travel agents. This article is dedicated for those who may not be too sure about airfare deals and the best times of the years to call a travel agent.

Summer is the best time of the year to travel around. some people say that it is only a travel myth while many others believe summer to be the best time of the year for all travelling activities. If you ever want to get anywhere by air during summer vacation, you should also be prepared to pay the price for it.

It is difficult to think why any airline has never got down to lowering airline airfare during summer vacation to provide benefits to those who want to travel. Bad enough that travelers have to fight for their airline bookings but they also have to pay a dear sum. Thus the bottom line is that, you should at all times watch out for airline airfare deals that may be absurb when it comes to pricing.

To reveal a few secrets from the airline airfare industry, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons are known as the best days to book tickets. This is the time of the week that airlines are known to have the minimal demand for tickets. But if you are adament that you need to travel during the weekend, you will have to give up on the idea of cheaper airfare rates….

Nowadays, physically walking in to an airline airfare agency is considered abnormal and non-necessary, thanks to the advanced technology. So you could even surpass the ticketing agents and book your own tickets straight from the airline itself.  But there’s a catch in here. Sometimes external parties are good at providing cheaper airline airfare rates than the airline’s authorised agent.

So never be in too much of a hurry to pay for your airline airfare deals. Researching is a golden practice because there will be plenty of agents who provide competitive rates. But try not to be fooled by those who make absurd claims as well. claims such as 75% off on all airline airfare, 100% off on the second air ticket  and  50% on all air tickets are false claims. If there were airlines who offered this kind of promotions, they will soon go bankrupt. So be wise and think twice before you make any decision at all when it comes to airline airfare.
