Bulgaria Travel Tips
The country of Bulgaria is situated on the southeastern part of the European continent. It is part of the Balkan Peninsula and is bordered by the country of Romania on the north, Serbia and Macedonia on the west, the Black Sea on the east and the countries of Greece and Turkey on the south. Bulgaria has been characterized as a country with a diverse landscape from mountain ranges to lush valleys and lowlands. The country of Bulgaria is the newest of the member-countries that comprise the European Union with Bulgaria joining the Union in 2007.

The country of Bulgaria has a temperate climate to travel. This is partly due to the various mountain ranges that could be found all over the country as well as its close proximity to the Black Sea. This being said, travelers heading to the country of Bulgaria should come prepared.
Whether you are traveling to Bulgaria for business, leisure or both, all travelers are required to present a passport that is valid for another six months after the date of departure from your home country. While a return ticket is not required to be presented upon arrival, all travelers must register where they would be staying during their trip in Bulgaria with the local police authorities. Travelers such as those coming from the United States can visit the country without acquiring a visa from the embassy. It is a good idea to check with the embassy or consulate of Bulgaria in your country for the complete set of documents you would need to present prior to your arrival to Bulgaria.
As with any trip abroad, travelers are required to present a valid passport upon their arrival to Bulgaria. The immigration in this country can be a little bit strict. They require all passports to be valid for at least six months from the time that you arrive to Bulgaria. It would be a good idea to have your passport first renewed before you head out to Bulgaria if the expiration date on your passport is within the same year of your travel, just to be on the safe side.
Shopping malls, restaurants and hotels in Bulgaria accept most of the major credit cards such as American Express, Visa and Mastercard. If need to withdraw money from the local ATM using your debit card during your stay here in Bulgaria, takes note that ATM machines have a limit on the amount that you can withdraw on a given day as well as the number of transactions that you can do.
Despite the fact that Bulgaria is just starting to make its mark as a prime tourist destination in Europe, travelers visiting the country would not need to worry about where to stay during their trip to this beautiful country. Travelers can choose from a wide variety of accommodations all over the country. From 5-star hotels to private lodgings and hostels, travelers are guaranteed to find one that would meet their budget.
